ISRAEL VARELA
& THE LABYRINTH PROJECT

A training of artists of extraordinary international level and heterogeneous cultural and ethnic roots, give life to an unprecedented mix with original music of great and refined research, composed by Israel Varela. An authentic journey full of colors that from one section to another of the songs manage atmospheres and dynamics of all kinds. All enriched by moments of pure free improvisation. Every concert is different, every choice of colors, sounds, effects, are balanced. Israel has already been alongside great artists such as Charlie Haden and Pat Metheny in the past.
Accompanied by the German virtuoso pianist ECM Weber and the legendary Brazilian Multi Grammy Award Winner Paixao. Together they propose a one-of-a-kind concert.

The tour, which will touch the most important stages of the peninsula, is the perfect opportunity to test this new important recording challenge. The completely rearranged concert will obviously not lack the band's most famous songs and many other surprises.

Israel Varela, drummer, singer, composer, producer, born in Tijuana (Mexico) is actually a citizen of the world: after his beginnings in his native country, he moved to the United States to study with Alex Acuna and Dave Weckl and then moved to Milan and attend the conservatory, in Spain to study flamenco, and finally to settle in Pontinia, Italy.

Thanks to her versatility and her captivating personality, the Belgian soprano Elise Caluwaerts has become a famous soloist both in her country and around the world. He began his career as a baroque singer and later expanded his repertoire with the romantic and contemporary genre. Her love for a stimulating repertoire - ranging from opera to multidisciplinary projects - has led her to various extraordinary creations and collaborations with internationally renowned composers and ensembles. During the Sydney Festival 2016, she sang the role of "She" in Pascal Dusapin Passion chamber opera. She was also invited by the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra for the recording of CDs with a spectacular repertoire. He performs on the best stages of classical and opera music all over the world.

Since creation in 2010, on the initiative of Sébastien Walnier (First Cello of the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels) and Alexandre Beauvoir (chamber musician), these eight musicians have shared a deep passion for the extraordinary richness of their instrument. Members of major European orchestras such as the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, the Opéra National de Paris and the Orchester Philharmonique Royal de Liège, Ô-Celli has performed at numerous European festivals. In particular, the International Cellos Festival of Beauvais, the Flâneries musicales de Reims, the Festival de Musique de Sully & du Loiret, the Musiq'3 Festival and the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie. They have published two works Ô-Celli fait son cinéma (2013) and Dances (2015). Soon a third with the theme of Latin-Spanish music.
